The author really captures the way the early 20 something's sound and act today. Keya seems to be the quintessential mood rollercoaster that is a young woman in turmoil, often a fun and sometimes a scary ride. I enjoyed all the twists and turns, and the story was well laid out and easy to follow. Although Lord Randar was an adequate evil influence, I would have liked to know more about him so I could hate him even more! Orren is a character of physical and moral greatness. He is the perfect character to watch over Keya. I enjoyed the battles and the detail in the fight scenes. Overall an enjoyable read.Product details

I bought this book for my 11 year old daughter who tore through the Harry Potter and Twilight series. She loved this book! She read it three times over a few weeks (as she does with most books) and "got lost" in it each time. Her only disappointment is that the next in the series (assume a "next" is coming) isn't ready yet. Thanks to Mr Skinner for a great read and one that is perfectly appropriate for a tween! Looking forward to what he comes up with next.
I'm not a fantasy reader, so I was surprised and delighted by how much I truly enjoyed this book. Although there is a strong fantasy element, the humanity of the characters is so rich and deep that the reader easily suspends disbelief. The lessons in this book are not trite or formulaic; the finely-drawn characters develop and change over the course of the story, and the book's climax is dramatic and satisfying, but leaves the reader ready for the sequel. Full of humor, action, and genuine feeling, this book is well worth your time. Additionally, although there is romance, it's PG-13, and safe for teens and tweens.
This book is a great read in fast paced present tense story telling. The story follows a young female elf, as she surches to find the man who can save her people.
Although fantasy is not my first love (I prefer murder mysteries and romances), I found The Keya Quests to be very entertaining. I felt a full range of emotions from laughter to tears. I couldn't put it down and am anxiously waiting for the sequel.
